The Long Life Literacy Act isa NON PROFIT COMPANY Established to MITIGATE the Impact of Socialills within the Education Sector. Upon its inception in 2018, the initialMandate of The Long Life Literacy Act was to decrease the Low Reading Levelsamong learners as means to reduce the high rate of school Drop Out.
We did this by establishingPartnerships with schools, through Registering Internal Reading Club's underOur Campaign Called The School Mass Reading Club's Campaign. In the last 2years we been working closely with SMT on flagship events. This Campaign isapproved by The Department Of Basic Education Read To Lead Campaign. Thisspecific Campaign and it's Policies are stronglyrecommended by the minister council.
We are one of feworganizations that work within the Basic Education Sector on Daily basis, TheLong Life Literacy Act understands that Education can equip our Learners withthe knowledge, Skills and values necessary for self-fulfillment and meaningful participationin society As citizens of a free Democratic South Africa.
As The LONG LIFE LITERACY weare Stakeholders in M.H BALOYI SECONDARY SCHOOL Through the Read To LeadCampaign, Our DIRECTOR Mr Koketso Mogale is A support Coordinator in The SchoolBased Support Team Committee responsible for determining the support needs ofthe school, teachers and learners and co-ordinating support provision withinthe framework of the Screening, Identification, Assessment and Support Policy(SIAS).
As The Coordinators Of The School Based Support Team,we have Taken into account that During the Covid 19 Pandemic, Learners areattending Schools on Rotational Time Tables. This means 50% cut out the to theTeaching and learning Time. And of course yes This also means 50% of ContentLearning and teaching Time is lost at HOME due to covid 19 circumstances. Thistime That is lost at HOME Puts Pressure on Educators to teach fast Trying toCatch up with Their Annual Teaching Plans(ATPs) so that they can meet deadlinesto finish the curriculum in time. On top of This Burden, we have also Notedthat during Covid 19 Pandemic, Classes Per GRADE have increased which meansmore Work for Educators on LESS Time provided given the Circumstances.
